En la edición número 23 de la entrega de los premios Critic´s Choice Awards, considerados usualmente la antesala de los premios Oscar, el cineasta mexicano Guillermo del Toro se llevó los premios a Mejor Película y Mejor Director, en tanto que cintas como Coco, basada en el Día de Muertos en México, se llevó dos reconocimientos: el de Mejor Película Animada y el tema Recuérdame fue elegida como la Mejor Canción.
